Client: PL AutoLine · Owner Piotr Lasyk

Location: Gachenbach, Neuburg-Schrobenhausen district (Bavaria)

Industry: Used complete wheels, alloy rims and automotive parts — focus on VAG Group

Live: pl-autoline.de

The Starting Point: 600 reviews and no own address on the web

PL AutoLine has been selling tested used winter and summer wheels for around three years, predominantly for VW, Audi, Škoda and SEAT. Over 900 wheel sets sold, over 600 reviews on eBay and Kleinanzeigen, 100% positive. Business was good. But it was exclusively on third-party platforms.

That was exactly the problem Piotr Lasyk came to us with. All the trust he had built up over the years resided in the review profiles of other companies. Anyone googling "PL AutoLine" found no website of its own. There was no logo, no color scheme, no address where a customer could find the brand again, and no place to showcase the care behind every single wheel set.

The task was clearly defined: build an independent brand and give it a fast, honest and legally secure website that doesn't replace the platforms but makes them credible.

Verified Google Review
The site is absolutely amazing. My business partner and I love it. It's clear, it's fast, and it fits exactly the vision I had.

The Google review was submitted with 5 out of 5 stars without text. The quote reflects the essence of what the owner told us in a personal conversation.

Needs analysis in a personal conversation, structured analysis form for the project scope.

Step 1: Listening before designing

Every project at our web agency in Bavaria begins with a personal conversation; no questionnaire replaces it, but a questionnaire structures what comes out of it.

We met with the owner on-site: How does the purchasing process work? How does he recognize a good set? What do buyers ask most frequently before they buy? From this conversation, an analysis form specifically created for the project emerged, which made the scope of services measurable: target groups, vehicle models, competitive environment, desired tone, mandatory content, expansion stages for later.

The result was a written project framework signed by both parties. No "we'll see," but a defined scope with defined correction rounds.

Step 2: The color world - dark, because the product demands it

Wheels and rims live from contour. On light layouts they disappear; on a dark background, spokes, edges and tire sidewalls stand out plastically. And the product photos are taken where the goods are: in the hall, on a gray floor, under artificial light. A light, airy layout would have worked against this visual material.

The palette therefore consists of three values:

  • Anthracite/Black ( #0B0907) as the stage, the color of tire rubber and workshop
  • Signal Gold (approx. #E9A93A) as the only accent, brass, polished aluminum, warning color in the best sense: it shows where to click
  • Off-White for body text, plus a reduced gray set for data blocks

Nothing more. Technical specifications such as tread depth, DOT or offset need calm, not a color firework. The gold carries every interaction—buttons, active states, prices, stars—and is therefore everywhere where a decision is made.

Three logo concepts for PL AutoLine: Chevron Stack, Speed Lines and Hex Chevron

Step 3: Three logo concepts to choose from

Instead of a single proposal, we developed three independent directions—each with a different basic idea, not three variants of the same idea:

  1. Chevron Stack — three stacked, upward-pointing angles. The shape cites two things: the direction of a tire tread and an upward movement. The loudest and most automotive of the three signs, with clear long-distance impact.
  2. Speed Lines — three diagonal lines with rounded ends, offset against each other. Movement, speed, track. The softest and most modern variant, closer to a tech brand than a classic automotive business.
  3. Hex Chevron — a hexagon with an inserted chevron. The most direct industry reference of all: the wheel nut. Compact, closed, works as an icon in any size.

All three were consistently played through in four states: gold on anthracite, off-white monochrome, black on gold and in miniature size as a favicon. Plus the wordmark "PL AutoLine" in a geometric grotesque with wide-set letters.

A logo that only works from 200 pixels up is worthless in the wheel trade: it appears on invoices, on labels on the wheel set, as a watermark on marketplace photos and eventually on the van. Therefore, every variant was tested small first, not large.

The Hex Chevron was chosen, and exactly this test made the difference. The hexagon is the only one of the three shapes with a closed outer contour. It holds up at 16 pixels in a browser tab just as well as on a photo between spokes and tire sidewalls, while open signs fall apart there. Added to this is the level of meaning that no one has to explain: anyone who buys wheels knows the hexagon from the wheel nut. The chevron to the right gives the brand a direction and reads as a silent repetition of the "L" in AutoLine in the wordmark.

The Chevron Stack was the most powerful variant, but too loud for a site that relies on objectivity and test protocols. The Speed Lines were the most elegant, but lost their readability in miniature size and seemed interchangeable. The Hex Chevron was the only design that worked in all four states without compromise.

Step 4: Three website concepts, one clear winner

The information architecture was fixed after the analysis and was identical in all three designs: promise in the hero, directly followed by reviews as a trust anchor, then manufacturer logos, available wheel sets, buyer testimonials, newsletter and contact. This sequence is not a design question but a sales decision: anyone buying used wheels online wants to know first whether they can trust the seller.

The atmosphere was varied. Three moods on one framework, so the client could compare without translating between different structures:

  • Aurora Midnight (Dark) — Anthracite with violet-blue gradient surfaces and indigo-colored buttons. Cool, technical, close to a software product. The most modern of the three designs, but furthest from the workshop.
  • Carbon Gold (Dark) — the same dark base, but with warm gold gradients and golden interaction surfaces. Metallic, high-quality, derived directly from the color world of the logo.
  • Clear Light (Light) — light, white structure with strong blue as an accent. Friendly and maximally familiar, but with significantly less contrast to the product image.

Carbon Gold was chosen for a very practical reason: the product photos are taken in the hall on a gray concrete floor. Against white, the wheel sets in Clear Light looked flat and lost their edges. Aurora Midnight looked strong but told the wrong story; violet gradients fit a SaaS landing page, not a dealer whose argument is manual work and personal inspection. Carbon Gold was the only variant that fit the logo, the visual material and the business at the same time.

In the coordination round, further changes were incorporated: a clearer separation between winter and summer goods, a more prominent reference to buyer protection and the inclusion of manufacturer logos as trust anchors.

Hosting, DNS configuration, mail server and SSL setup for pl-autoline.de

Step 5: The technical foundation

The site runs on our own infrastructure in Germany. We took over the complete setup so the client doesn't have to worry about anything:

  • Setup of hosting including SSL certificate and automatic renewal
  • Domain connection and full DNS configuration
  • Setting up the mail server including mailboxes under the own domain
  • Email authentication (SPF, DKIM, DMARC) so that inquiry confirmations don't end up in spam
  • Backups and monitoring

Especially the last point is often underestimated. An info@ address under one's own domain simply has a different effect for a product value of 600 to 800 euros per wheel set than a freemail address.

Step 6: Implementation with the Genizi CMS

We implemented the chosen concept by hand-coding: no theme, no builder, no ballast. For content maintenance, our own Genizi CMS was used, with which the owner can create new wheel sets and subpages himself without touching a line of code.

For this project, this was the right choice because the catalog is changeable: each set is unique and only available once. Depending on the requirements, we alternatively use WordPress or PrestaShop for blog-heavy projects or real shop systems with shopping carts and payment processing. The decision is made based on need, not habit.

The delivery includes:

  • Product detail pages with full technical data (tire size, rim dimension, offset, bolt circle, tread depth, DOT, part number)
  • A contact form with privacy checkbox and spam protection without external services
  • Newsletter registration for new wheel sets
  • FAQ section that catches the most frequent queries before purchase

Genizi CMS in use: Maintenance of the product pages of pl-autoline.de by the client themselves
Legally secure implementation: Legal notice, privacy policy and cookie-free operation

Step 7: Subpages and legal security

At launch, several subpages and product detail pages were created for the current wheel sets as well as the legally required pages:

  • Legal Notice according to § 5 DDG with full provider information
  • Privacy Policy according to GDPR, tailored to the actual data processing
  • Transparent reference to the small business regulation according to § 19 UStG both in the footer and directly at each price

A decision that looked different in the draft: the first concepts additionally listed GTC and cancellation policy in the footer. Both were omitted after the process was finalized. The sales contract is concluded exclusively via eBay or Kleinanzeigen—the website informs and refers, it does not sell itself. Maintaining legal texts that do not concern a contract creates confusion rather than security.

A conscious step: the site uses exclusively technically necessary session cookies. No tracking, no analysis scripts, no external fonts. This is not only privacy-friendly, it also makes the site measurably faster and saves an intrusive consent layer that blocks visitors right at the entry.

Step 8: Visible on Google

After the launch, we registered the site with Google and set it up in the Search Console:

  • Property verification and submission of the XML sitemap
  • Indexing check of all subpages
  • Individual title tags and meta descriptions per page — each product page carries the specific vehicle fitment in the title
  • Canonical tags, clean heading structure and descriptive alt attributes
  • Open Graph data for previews when sharing on WhatsApp and Facebook
  • Structured data for products and FAQ

The search intent was leading here: no one searches for "complete wheels." People search for "VW T-Roc winter wheels 17 inch" or "Škoda Superb alloy rims ET41." This is exactly how the page titles are structured. How we approach this systematically is described on our page about SEO and optimization.

Setup of Google Search Console and indexing of pl-autoline.de

Step 9: Performance: 90 mobile, 100 desktop

Speed was not an afterthought from the start, but part of the concept. The results in Google PageSpeed Insights:

Value
Mobile 90 / 100
Desktop 100 / 100

This was achieved through:
  • All images in WebP format, delivered responsively in appropriate sizes
  • Lazy loading for everything below the first screen
  • Critical CSS inline, the rest asynchronous
  • Locally hosted fonts instead of external font services
  • No tracking or advertising scripts from third-party providers
  • Server-side compression and browser caching

For a dealer whose customers largely come to the site mobile from a classifieds app, the loading time decides whether anything is read at all.

01

The Result

PL AutoLine now has an independent brand and a website that does three things at once: it explains the inspection process, makes the review history visible and guides interested parties specifically to the wheel set that fits their vehicle — with the secure purchase completion still via eBay and Kleinanzeigen including buyer protection.

The site is expandable. New wheel sets, new vehicle models, later an own shop: the foundation holds.
